Local Movers Who Know Orlando and Central Florida by Heart

HomeTeam Moving is a licensed local mover working out of a yard off Kirkman Road, and we keep the work in-house from end to end: our trucks, our W-2 crew, no exceptions. We move houses and apartments through Orlando, Winter Park, Lake Nona, Baldwin Park, College Park, Dr. Phillips, Maitland, Oviedo, Apopka, Altamonte Springs, Windermere, Ocoee, Winter Garden, and Kissimmee, and we run the rest of the I-4 corridor besides. Marcus Reyes is a Conway kid who loaded trucks while he was at Valencia College, then spent a decade running crews across Central Florida for a national van line before he put his own Orlando crew together in 2015. That’s why our movers already know how a Winter Park bungalow stairwell pitches and which downtown blocks will actually hold a truck during a weekday rush.

What Hiring Local Actually Buys You

When you run the same metro every week, you read it differently than a long-haul outfit barreling down I-4 ever could. We already know a Winter Park 1920s bungalow hides a steep, pinched staircase that quietly eats clock time, that a College Park duplex means standing the long sofa on end to clear the entry, and that a downtown high-rise wants proof of insurance and a booked elevator nailed down days in advance. So we route around the worst tourism backups on the 408 and the 417, dodge theme-park traffic near I-4, and walk the carry before a single dolly hits the path. Come July, that legwork is exactly what keeps the day tidy when an afternoon thunderstorm opens up over the curb with no warning.

Moving You Through Heat, Storms, and Hurricane Season

Florida summers are long, soupy, and unforgiving of a half-thought-out plan, and they last most of the year. We’ve run households through brutal humidity, the near-daily afternoon downpour, and the run-up to a hurricane more times than we can count, and the truck shows up stocked for every bit of it. Soft goods get shrink-wrapped against the damp, floor runners go down across every threshold so a sudden cloudburst and tracked-in water never reach your floors, and quick-covers stay staged so the rain can’t catch a piece sitting out in the open. Since a storm can drench a curb in minutes, we time the heavy carries to the radar and stage the load so the crew keeps rolling when the sky lets go. That same readiness carries straight into hurricane season, when board-up timing matters and we keep a plan ready for an elevator-down or power-out address.

Storm-season booking tip: for a closing or lease date anywhere from June through November, lock your slot two to three weeks out and hold a loose backup day in your pocket. A named storm can shut a corridor for an afternoon, and the crew already on your calendar is the one that can reshuffle you fastest.

The Way We Run Your Move

  1. We walk the place with you, on-site or over video, tally the rooms and the heavy pieces, and write you one flat price with nothing tucked into the fine print.
  2. With the date set, we lock the crew size and take care of curb space, any building COI, and elevator scheduling on the condo and apartment jobs.
  3. On move morning the crew pads and shrink-wraps the furniture, breaks down the standard beds and tables, and loads with whatever storm prep your address calls for.
  4. We drive it ourselves, then set every piece where you point, rebuilding what came apart and landing the big items on the mark.
  5. We close out with a walk-through together, so you’ve cleared every room before the truck pulls away.

High-Rise, Lake Nona, and HOA Access

A good share of Orlando moves need paperwork handled before anyone lifts a box. Downtown high-rises and Lake Nona mid-rises typically expect proof of insurance on record and a freight elevator held for your slot, and we arrange both with management ahead of time. Out in Windermere, Horizon West, and Lake Nona, the subdivisions often run under HOA rules on truck access, hours, and staging, so we pin the details at booking. A Winter Park bungalow or a College Park duplex brings a genuine stair carry, and we build the crew and the schedule around it rather than getting blindsided on the day.

  • Every job goes out with a licensed, insured HomeTeam crew, backed by $1M cargo coverage and US DOT and MC authority on any move that crosses a state line.
  • We cover Orange County and Central Florida, from Winter Park and Maitland to Lake Nona, Winter Garden, Oviedo, and out toward Kissimmee.
  • Same-week openings happen often, but summer and hurricane season book first, so reach out as soon as your date firms up.

We would like to commend HomeTeam Moving for a job well done on our recent move! Our situation was a little different as we're storing all our furniture and most of our belongings. The team headed by Andre and including Cody, Luis, Deshawn & Marcus took great care by prepping the space we were moving from - protecting walls and floors - and wrapped our furniture with care preparing for storage. They worked hard and even skipped lunch to get our belongings secured in our storage unit. These folks do a quality job and they're friendly and personable too! When we move again in 6 to 7 months, we intend to request this same team. Thank you, Andre & team!!!

Good questions to ask

The stuff people usually want cleared up first

How early should I lock in a local move?
Two to three weeks is a comfortable lead for most dates. Our busiest runs are the summer stretch, hurricane season, and the Lake Nona Medical City and hospitality relocations, while month-end leasing near UCF ties up crews citywide, so if your move falls in any of those windows, call as early as you can to claim a slot.
Will the truck need a parking permit?
Downtown around Lake Eola and Thornton Park, sometimes yes, and high-rise curb space disappears fast. Give us the address when you book and we check the local rules and help line up a permit or a held loading spot so the truck sits tight to your door.
Where does HomeTeam Moving operate?
Throughout Orange County and Central Florida. That takes in Orlando, Winter Park, Lake Nona, Baldwin Park, College Park, Dr. Phillips, Maitland, Oviedo, Apopka, Altamonte Springs, Windermere, Ocoee, Winter Garden, and Kissimmee, plus the rest of the I-4 corridor.
Who actually does the moving?
Our own full-time W-2 movers, hired and trained under Marcus. We don't subcontract the job, pass it off to another company, or sell your details. The crew that loads your home is the same crew that carries it back in.
What if my date shifts, storm included?
Dates move, and in Florida the weather sometimes makes that call. If a closing slips or a named storm rolls through, call us and we'll put you on the next workable day at no penalty. Holding a flexible backup date through hurricane season keeps it painless.
Do stairs or a long carry cost extra?
Any stairs and carry we catch at the walk-through are already inside your flat price, so a downtown walk-up or a Winter Park bungalow is covered before we start. The only thing that ever changes the number is something never mentioned up front, which is exactly why we size up the access first.
Can you manage a same-day or next-day move?
Often, when a crew has the opening. Smaller studio and one-bedroom jobs are the easiest to slot in on short notice. Call with your date and address and we'll be straight with you about what we can pull off.
Is there a minimum on a local move?
Yes. Local jobs run a two-mover crew at $125 an hour with a short hour minimum that covers the rollout, padding the furniture, and a quick cross-town hop. We'll lay out the exact minimum for your home when we quote it.
